What is Scientology?

One of the questions we are most often asked is “Where do you guys get your energy?” or many people say “You all seem so happy, how come?”.
Well, truthfully, we are all Scientologists and use this in our personal lives and within the band. Scientology is truly about thinking for yourself and one of the main principles is that what is real is what is real for you, so the best thing to do is find out for yourself. Read a book or check out the Scientology or Dianetics web site or even pop into a Church and see a free film or lecture, but for those who are curious here is some information. I hope it helps. The term Scientology is taken from the Latin word scio (knowing in the fullest sense of the word) and the Greek word logos (study of). In itself the word means literally knowing how to know. Scientology is further defined as the study and handling of the spirit in relationship to itself, universes and other life. Based upon the tradition of fifty thousand years of thinking men, it is built upon the fundamental truths of life. From these principles, exact methods by which one can improve conditions were derived; and unlike other efforts of improvement, which offered only rules by which men should live, Scientology offers real tools for use in everyday life. The emphasis is squarely on an exact application of its principles toward the improvement of one’s life and the world in which we live. When Ian, the lead singer was asked how he came to use Scientology he said the following:
“For myself, I was particularly looking for something. Something that would help me and help others and that made sense and worked. My girlfriend, now my wife, gave me a copy of Dianetics: The Modern Science of Mental Health by Through Dianetics and Scientology I am happier, more confident and more myself. It has helped me and the band creatively a lot, not the least by getting rid of the blocks to that creativity. So in that way it has definitely helped me with my music, plus feeling happy helps too.”
